Code of Conduct for Managers & Coaches
The ethics and attitude of our Team managers and coaches are key to the behaviour of players under their supervision. They are therefore, expected to pay particular care to the moral aspect of the conduct.
Coaches have to be aware that almost all of their everyday decisions and choices of actions, as well as strategic targets, have ethical implications.
It is natural that winning constitutes a basic concern for coaches, this code is not intended to conflict with thst, however, the code calls for coaches to disassociate themselves from”win-at-all-costs attitude.”
Set out below is the F.A. Coaches Association code of conduct, which forms the benchmark for all, involved in coaching:
· They must respect the rights, dignity and worth of each and every person and treat each equally within the context of the sport.
· They must place the well being and safety of each player above all other considerations, including the development of performance.
· They must adhere to all guidelines laid down by the club constitution and by governing bodies.
· They must develop an appropriate working relationship with each player based on mutual trust and respect.
· They must not exert any influence to obtain personal benefit or reward.
· They must encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance.
· They must ensure that the activities they direct or advocate are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of players.
· They should, at the outset, clarify with the players (and, where appropriate, parent) exactly what is expected of them and also what they are entitled to expect from their coach.
· They must co-operate fully with other specialists (e.g. other coaches, officials, sports scientists, doctors, and physiotherapists) in the best interests of the player.
· They must always promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play) and never condone violations of the laws of the game, behaviour contrary to the spirit of the laws of the game or relevant rules and regulations or use of prohibited substances or techniques.

Code of Conduct for Players (with Guidance notes).
Health
From time to time you may suffer from injury or illness. If you are injured or unwell, please notify your team manager or coach as soon as possible. Do not leave it to the last minute. If in doubt, let them know what the situation is, do not rely on training sessions alone to keep fit (You can do this in your own time too).
Selection
All players want to play in matches, however if the whole squad is available, some payers will be substitutes, and unforuately some may not be selected to play .In considering selection, the following factors will be taken into account:
· All subscriptions are up to date.
· Acceptable behaviour both on and off the pitch.
· Good health and fitness.
· Form and commitment during training sessions and matches.
· Regular attendance at training sessions.
· Punctuality for training and at matches.
· Players are required to respond promptly to all phone calls, texts or emails in respect to their availability. No response will be taken as their un-availability.
Every Manager/Coach will look to give each player the opportunity of playing full games. It will depend on a whole range of circumstances. The Manager’s task of satisfying everyone all of the time is impossible. Please try to appreciate that it is not easy.
Holidays
If you intend to go on holiday, or there are specific dates on which you know you will be unavailable, you must let your manager know immediately. This is very important to the managers in being able to select their squads for matches. The League does not except that a lack of player numbers is a reasonable excuse to cancel a match.
Behaviour on and off the field
Both you and the club are responsible for your behaviour on and off the field. The Club is also responsible for the behaviour of its managers, officers and supporters who attend matches. Our club is also associated with Brighton Road Baptist Church, so any misbehaviour also reflects on them. The club takes pride in matches but as much pride in sportsmanship our teams display. The following are reminders of what is expected of you:
· Learn and adhere to the laws of the game.
· Do not argue. Treat the referee, referee’s assistants, opponents, spectators and team-mates with respect.
· Do not make unnecessary appeals for throw-ins, free kicks, offside etc.
· Play fair, do not seek to gain an unfair advantage by deliberately misleading match officials (i.e. overacting to foul play or appealing for decisions).
· Do not lose your self-control and do not retaliate.
· Enjoy your football, but take victory modestly and defeat graciously.
· Maintain good standards of behaviour, punctuality, politeness and appearance.
· Listen to and observe all instructions given to you by you manager/coach and referee.
· Foul and abusive language, and racist remarks or taunts are unacceptable and will not be tolerated at this club.
· Do not wear earrings and other body jewellery whilst training or playing matches.
· All players will be deemed as joining the Club and not any one team.
· Setting the right example to young spectators at games in terms of language and behaviour is very important. All players are role models and will be being watched by young people at match’s and training sessions.
· All players are expected to put up and take down the nets for all home games.
· Players and Managers are jointly responsible for look after club equipment including nets, flag poles, balls, medical equipment and the kit.
· The player’s motto is Do to others, as you would have them do to you. Luke 6:31.
